Add UTM parameters to your links and Google Analytics will tell you which network, campaign or newsletter each visit came from.

Your link with UTM

Type the address and at least the source to see your link.

The link is built in your browser: we do not store what you type.

A UTM link is long. Shorten it.

Share linko.sh/summer instead of a mile-long address: count clicks by country, network and device, change the destination whenever you like and compare versions with A/B tests.

What are UTM parameters?

UTM parameters are tags added at the end of a link, such as ?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social. They do not change the page that opens, but Google Analytics and other tools read them to attribute every visit to its origin.

The three essentials are the source (who sends the visit), the medium (the kind of channel) and the campaign (the name of the push). Term and content are optional.

Best practices

  • Always use lowercase: “Instagram” and “instagram” count as different sources.
  • Use hyphens instead of spaces.
  • Agree on a list of sources and mediums and use it consistently.
  • Do not add UTM tags to internal links on your own site: they restart the attribution of the visit.

Where do I see the results?

In Google Analytics 4, in the acquisition reports, filter by the campaign dimension or by session source and medium. If you also shorten the link with linko, you see clicks in real time with their country, network and device, even when the visit never finishes loading your site.

FAQ

Do UTM tags affect SEO?

No, as long as you use them on links you share outside your site: social media, emails, ads or QR codes. Avoid them on your internal links.

Are they case-sensitive?

Yes. “Instagram” and “instagram” would show up as different sources in your reports. Always use lowercase.

Can I shorten a link with UTM tags?

Yes. The linko short link leads to the full address with all its parameters, so Google Analytics still receives them.

Do you store the links I build here?

No. The link is built in your browser.

Your next link deserves more than being shortened.
